  6. WHAT IS IT?

  9. Executive brings real multitasking to AmigaOS. Executive is a UNIX-like
  10. task scheduler for Amiga. It also has plenty of other features previously
  11. available only in larger operating systems.

  13. Executive improves the responsiveness of your Amiga. One CPU intensive
  14. application no longer causes the whole system to crawl. You can start
  15. many CPU intensive applications and the system still feels as if it
  16. would be totally idle.

  18. The Executive package also includes many useful client programs that let
  19. you control tasks and monitor what's going on in your system.

  21. No similar programs for Amiga have been made before, so you may not
  22. exactly know what Executive is all about, but give it a little time
  23. and read the documentation and you won't regret it!

  25. Executive is the highest rated item of shareware CU Amiga magazine has
  26. ever awarded at 98%.

  29. REQUIREMENTS

  32. Executive requires at least AmigaOS 2.04. Localization will be available
  33. if you're using AmigaOS 2.1 or newer.
  34.  
  35. MagicUserInterface (MUI) is not required, although some clients use it.
  36. MUI version 3.3 or later is recommended. If you don't have MUI or don't
  37. want to use it, the programs that use MUI are also available with a
  38. standard GadTools interface.

  40. Executive requires approximately 1.5 MB of hard disk space for full
  41. installation.

  44. INSTALLATION

  47. Installation is easy, just click on the Installation icon and
  48. Executive will be installed. The installation is safe, there's no
  49. risk of overwriting any system files and you can later uninstall
  50. easily by using the uninstallation script. This will completely
  51. remove Executive from your system. If you abort the installation,
  52. files that were installed will be deleted.

  54. All files except two locale catalogs are installed to a single
  55. directory.

  57. I suggest you install Executive in expert user - mode. This will let
  58. you choose from different types of icons and documentation.

  60. You really want to use the Installer script and not to try install
  61. Executive manually. If you don't have the standard Amiga Installer-
  62. utility, you can download it from any Aminet site, the file is:
  63. util/misc/Installer-43_3.lha (or a newer version).

  65. If you're a new user, you might want to read the tutorial section
  66. in the documentation after you have installed Executive.
